Real quick since I'm working.....ha ha.

    Dumped the junk.

    Brian McCann
    Robinson Tejeda

    1 Free Agent pick

    Geovany Soto
    Daisuke Matsuzaka
    C.C. Sabathia
    Brandon Morrow
    Jason Bartlett

I'd say Tejeda equals Morrow, McCann equals Soto and Bartlett, and the #1 FA equals Matsuzaka.  That leaves Sabathia with no one to compare to, thus not enough was offered in the deal. A fair initial offer would have included at least 1 first round rookie. At a minimum a couple 1st round rookies needed to be included in this deal to work for both sides.

Like i said in my previous post if you look at my team the trade seems even more farfetched than it already is.

I realize I should have labeled this thread "The hyperbole of trade advertising".

Ken while what you said about Meche is true if you look at the free agent pitchers in that league.  Take out the top 5 he's better than all of them plus pitches in a friendly pithers park and is fairly young.  Plus I'm not asking for a lot he's certainly better than you'd find with a FA 3 a rook 3 or a marginal prospect which is all I'm asking for and if he were your 5th starter you wouldn't need him or want him in the playoffs and you can get away with 3 in them if you need too.

I agree that he is worth taking a flyer on and what you are asking might be fair.  It was the headlines that I was after and the fact that if you have to use Meche as your 4th starter you won't make the playoffs.

In S3 KenG is offering Zaun for trade.  I looked up his stats and he has a ROPS of .801.  Ken didn't even mention, "He crushes right handers!"  Nicely understated.

    John, S3, Jackson Prospectors

I did state that "Take a look at the FA catchers, Zaun is a better deal.".  I picked up Zaun for a 3rd FA in G4, traded him for a 3rd round FA in K15.  Pretty sure the market has been set.  Big Smile

Yeah,  Zaun is probably worth a #3, maybe #4.  His throwing is the only downside, but that 800 ROPS is nice.

Somone offered me Kaz Matsui for my #1 FA (4th overall).  Not sure the market would settle there for the Kas-meister.

I offered my first round FA pick (number 2 overall) for Lincecum, Longoria or kershaw...but no takers so far.

Kaz is a FA in a few of my FA drafts and I don't have him in my top 3 rounds.

If I needed a catcher I'd take Zaun with a low 2nd / high 3rd round pick.  Remember that stealing is a reflection on pitchers as well, thus a guys arm isn't the whole story.

I usually pop for two really good relievers in the first two rounds of the FA drafts (that is if I have any 1st round picks, I've traded all of my picks this year).
