    What is important to you?

We have had some great suggestions so far, and we hope you all continue to make them.  I am creating this thread in an effort to get some specific information from you, our managers.

One of the pieces we are currently developing is a customizable front page.  We are developing a series of controls that will allow you to place the data that is most important to you on your front page.  In order to make this valuable to you, we need some information.

The following are some basic questions, but please feel free to make any suggestion as to what you would like to see on the new site.  Please keep in mind that this thread is purely about the site.  We will address actual game (game client) issues in a separate thread.

    • When you log in to the game site, what is the most important thing you need to see about your teams?
    • What areas of the game site do you spend most of your time in?
    • What tasks/actions do you do on a regular basis as a part of managing your teams?
    • What functionality do you feel the site is missing?
    • What aspect of the site do you feel you could do without?
    • On a similar note, what areas of the game site do you rarely or never use?

In replying to this thread, please at least try to answer these questions, but please do not feel limited by them.

Re: What is important to you?

Most important: Player status - the whole roster not just the active roster
Most Time Spent: line-ups for away series
What tasks: roster changes, line-up changes
    What funtionality:
What aspect could I do without: Blogs
What area of game rarely use: Ball Park stats

    • When you log in to the game site, what is the most important thing you need to see about your teams?
  • It would be cool to see the records of each team on the main page with all your teams.
  • davidm:

    • What areas of the game site do you spend most of your time in?
  • Sending away instructions.  This could be sped up by having the ability to only input starting pitchers and using the default vs left/vs right that is already set up
  • davidm:

    • What tasks/actions do you do on a regular basis as a part of managing your teams?
  • Setting up the pitching staff and lineups.  It would be great if the system remembers what a guys role was when sent down.
  • davidm:

    • What functionality do you feel the site is missing?
  • I'd like to see the total stats(but averaged) of a player from all leagues that he plays in to get an idea how a guy is doing overall as this would give a much greater sample size than just one league.
  • davidm:

    • What aspect of the site do you feel you could do without?
  • No answer at this time

Re: What is important to you?

    1) I'd like to see the status of Active & Farm players on initial team screen.

    2) I spend most of my time on player use strategy and and developing weekly lineups.

    3) If it's feasible, a suggestion made earlier is interesting. If there could be a page developed for each team that would list the current cumulative game stats for your players for all teams in a similar type league, such as all Trad. leagues. This would be displayed in the same format as your own team stats.

Re: What is important to you?

    MOST IMPORTANT:

All of My Teams Schedule this Week

All of My Teams Game Results and Box Scores for Current Week

All of My Teams Year To Date Standing in Each League

All of My Teams Schedule Next Week

MOST TIME SPENT:  Evaluating Opponents likely Starting Pitching and Position Players for the weekly games.

TASKS DONE ON REGULAR BASIS: Developing Lineups for the weeks games. (Away and Home games)

FUNCTIONALITY MISSING:  Opponents Starting Pitchers scheduled for current weeks series. In "REAL" Baseball both teams know the Starting Pitchers they are going to face before any of their series games are played. (most of the time).

DO WITHOUT:  Manager Information. Very few Managers input it.

RARELY USE:  Member Info, Free Demo, Game FAQ, on the current formats. Also, the Batting/Pitching Leader Board on the REPORTS page because this information is also found under the STATS page

Re: What is important to you?

How about including an OPS column on the vs. R and vs. L Hitting and Pitching statistics regarding  PureBaseball player performance

Re: What is important to you?

I really want them to code in a *lefty specialist* type of reliever.  The AI doesn't seem to get this as is.

Re: What is important to you?

A slot for a lefty specialist late in the game would be great.

Re: What is important to you?

The rotowire function on the Team Page still shows N/A for all rookies picked in the last Traditional League Drafts.  I use this function frequently to update myself on what is happening with my players.  Can we update Rotowire for all players?

    Thanks,

    Tim

Re: What is important to you?

    • When you log in to the game site, what is the most important thing you need to see about your teams?
    • The list as is currently shown with possibly the team record and standing along side with GB, e.g. (55-61) - 3rd place; 14 games out.
    • What areas of the game site do you spend most of your time in?
    • Game playing, Front Office.
    • What tasks/actions do you do on a regular basis as a part of managing your teams?
    • Roster management, away lineups for next series, trading.
    • What functionality do you feel the site is missing?
    •  Insertion of a pitcher from Farm and ability to go directly to Front Office and make role adjustment - this may have more to do with game operation though.
    • What aspect of the site do you feel you could do without?
    • On a similar note, what areas of the game site do you rarely or never use?

Re: What is important to you?

Sorry, but I'd like to add one.  Since so many managers have more than one team it would be helpful if a list of team names and leagues were posted for each manager with more than one team.

Re: What is important to you?

Well, as long as you asked...how about updating the field view screen that displays while a game is being loaded?  The batter, Cecil Fielder, hasn't played since 1998. How about a new view, with (now here's an idea) Prince Fielder. Or maybe go retro, with Mantle, Kofax, Gibson, Stan the Man, etc. Or, create a selection of views that a manager can choose a favorite from. Or...actually...it's perfectly fine to just leave it as is since this action should probably be listed with a priority of around, ummmmmm, last on the list of game improvements.

Re: What is important to you?

How about getting unmanaged team games played ASAP once games are turned on?

It's Tuesday, 9/5/06, 1PM EDT, and the unmanaged team home games have not been played.

Re: What is important to you?

  • 1) When you log in to the game site, what is the most important thing you need to see about your teams?
  • STATUS
  • 2) What areas of the game site do you spend most of your time in?
  • STATS
  • 3) What tasks/actions do you do on a regular basis as a part of managing your teams?
  • LINEUPS, ROTATION
  • 4) What functionality do you feel the site is missing?
  • Actually the GAME is missing something.  When you finish your inning after PH for a pitcher it comes up with the lineup box.  You aren't allowed to look at the other teams roster to see any batter matchups.
  • What aspect of the site do you feel you could do without?
  • Nobody seems to fill out the Owners information which I would find interesting.  Maybe that could be brought to their attention.
  • On a similar note, what areas of the game site do you rarely or never use?
  • SEE ABOVE

Re: What is important to you?

I almost forgot!  In the RT leagues I'd like to see the PREVIOUS years stats along with this year stats. Currently, it has this years stats plus 2007 (which doesn't make sense!)
