Are frequent traders getting air miles or something?

Are frequent traders getting air miles or something?

I've seen a few trades like this one this week:

    3/28/2017 5:18:35 AM

The Gotham Fielders Round 6 Free Agent pick moves from the Gotham Fielders to the Oak Grove Falcons.

The Champaign Fighting Illini Round 5 Free Agent pick moves from the Oak Grove Falcons to the Gotham Fielders.

There doesn't appear to be a prior trade involving these teams that this is amending. Any ideas?

I have made two trades this week like the one you posted.  Those No. 5 FA picks are hard to plan for considering a team's needs.  In some cases I would rather have the No. 6 than the No. 5 because you have more control over who you pick, thereby filling a team need.  There is usually some good value in Round 6, even if it is just a one year fix.

Thanks. My curiosity is definitely a result of boredom between drafts.

Yes, I asked Mike and he said the same thing:

There were several deals made by managed teams to obtain the 6th round picks (for mostly #5 picks).
Since the UNM teams draft off a list they are fine with moving up. The 6th round offers more control over picks for managed teams.

I was turned down by a few owners for the 5th round 6th round.   Should have tried the unmanaged teams.   Next year.   As if I'll remember by then.  LOL

Re: Are frequent traders getting air miles or something?

I have too many teams to make 50 player lists for rounds 3-5 and rounds 6-8. For more than a decade I have tried to dump #5 and #7 & 8 picks as much as possible. That way I only need to make lists about 20 players long. I value convenience and time over getting the best player possible.

The recent suggestion to have a 5 day draft (1,2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8) would seem to solve that problem. I have suggested it multiple time to no avail. I'm glad to see some discussion about the possibility of making that happen for next season.

You and I need to just remind the powers that be since it seems like everyone liked the idea.
